Bloomcraft FAQ

BLOOMCRAFT
What is Bloomcraft?
Bloomcraft is Rosavelle's local magic system powered by the Everbloom, the giant magical tree at the heart of the kingdom. Thanks to the Everbloom's influence, everyone in Rosavelle can tap into magic and remain connected to it even if they leave the island. And this includes you! Once your character arrives in Rosavelle, they're connected to its magic system by default. They still need to learn how to use it properly, but even characters from non-magical worlds will have access to Bloomcraft.

There are six branches of Bloomcraft, each representing a different way magic expresses itself in the world. Each branch has six tiers of mastery, starting at Tier 1 (Beginner) and progressing all the way to Tier 6 (Advanced). You can focus on one or dabble in a few, depending on your character's vibe. Learning magic takes time and effort, but casual use is very normalized – people enchant their homes, cook with magic, and use Bloomcraft to add a little extra sparkle to daily life.

Tiers reflect the amount of learning your character can reasonably accomplish during their time in Rosavelle. Tier 6 is considered the upper limit for in-game growth under normal circumstances. If your character is the type to really buckle down and commit to learning past that though, feel free to contact the mods! We're happy to collaborate on custom advancements for characters and players who want to put in the work.

That said, you don't have to teach your character Bloomcraft to have fun in the game! This is just an optional part of the setting for interested players and characters to engage with.

How powerful can my character get with Bloomcraft?
Pretty strong – but there are limits. Bloomcraft progression is designed to reflect what your character can realistically learn during their stay in Rosavelle. Even at the highest tiers, there's always room for growth beyond the game's timeframe (which players are welcome to plot out with mods if they stick around long enough).

Also, magic here is balanced for the setting – this isn't a "level to godhood in three weeks" situation. Bloomcraft is mostly here for fun and to give characters extra toys and tools to work with, not to blow up the town hall with a fireball.

How does my character learn Bloomcraft?
From an IC perspective, your character can pick up Bloomcraft through active study, practice, and a little bit of trial and error. Some branches of magic, such as those associated with things like cooking or dancing, might come naturally, especially to characters already inclined toward those activities. Other branches – like illusions or more complex enchantments – will take focused effort, dedicated practice, or even finding someone to teach them.

Out of character, Bloomcraft progression is tied to the game's Bonus Thread system. To level up in a branch of Bloomcraft, you'll need two things:

❤ Enough points to buy the next tier
❤ IC thread(s) showing your character actively learning, studying, or practicing the magic

Characters don't level up by accident! They can stumble into using beginner magic in casual ways, but advancing through the tiers will always require intentional learning.

What are the branches of Bloomcraft?
The six branches are as follows:

Infusery combines alchemy, potion-making, and the culinary arts. Practitioners channel the Everbloom's magic through food, drink, and potioncraft, infusing simple dishes with powerful charms. Spells are often recipes as much as incantations and a deft hand in the kitchen is as important as magical talent. Infusery suits characters who love caring for others, expressing themselves through food, or offering quiet support.

Meramancy deals in illusions, glamours, and manipulation of the senses. Practitioners channel the Everbloom's magic through movement, showmanship, and sleight of hand, crafting spells that dazzle the senses and bend perception. Perfect for performers, charmers, or those who want to enchant through spectacle and wonder.

Imprintwork enchants fabric, keepsakes, and handmade crafts. Practitioners channel the Everbloom's magic through stitching, sewing, and careful craftsmanship, weaving emotion into physical objects. A deeply personal magic, often used by artists, crafters, or sentimental types, Imprintwork suits characters who love to create, express themselves through gifts, or all of the above.

Bibliomancy infuses magic into letters, words, writing, and reading. Practitioners of Bibliomancy can channel the Everbloom’s magic to transform words; they weave charms and enchantments into letters, books, a quick scribble on scrap paper, even signage for a store. A natural draw for voracious readers and writers, academics and researchers, and others who love words in all their many forms.

Floriomancy deals with the natural world and all green things that grow. Practitioners channel the Everbloom's magic through their magically gifted green thumbs but in skilled hands, it becomes far more than gardening. Flora and fauna grown through this magic often carry unique properties that can't quite be replicated through other means - which makes them invaluable resources to other Bloomcraft users. Floriomancy is ideal for caretakers, dreamers, cultivators and supportive types who prefer to lend a hand in the background.

Elementalism wields aspects of the natural world as both tools and weapons. Practitioners of Elementalism can channel the Everbloom's magic to control the elements: earth, fire, wind, and water. Expressed through the user's body, elemental magic is versatile in both combat and domestic situations. Vivacious, energetic, and a little wild, Elementalism suits those with bold or bright personalities who love to get out there and experiment!

What are the tiers and how do I progress?
Mastering Bloomcraft is all about time and effort... for your character, anyway! OOCly, all you have to do is earn points through Bonus Threads and the like and show your progress with actual IC threads of your character learning, practicing, or experimenting with magic. Threads can be casual, experimental, funny, or serious – the important thing is showing your character actively developing their magic. Mishaps, weird experiments, and slice-of-life magical moments totally count!

Once you meet both requirements, you're ready to level up! Characters are allowed to rank up twice per Season (i.e., once per month) assuming you have the points and threads necessary.

Each branch of Bloomcraft has its own page where you can submit your rank up requests once you're ready, but here's a general guide on how you can expect progression to work and how many points you can expect to pay! Keep in mind that points and threads are tracked separately for each branch. If you want your character to be a magical jack-of-all-trades, you'll be earning those points branch by branch.
