Since this is a game about romance and long-term relationships, can pregnancy happen in Rosavelle?
- Rosavelle is where you are right now! It's a fantasy island kingdom in the middle of a vast ocean, built up around a magical ancient tree known as the Everbloom. The kingdom's architecture leans bright and romantic in the aesthetic sense - think rococo-inspired buildings, floating markets, ornate bridges, and canals winding through the city. There's lots of magical day to day conveniences but no technology or internet. Most social life happens face-to-face, through letters, or magical messengers.
Rosavelle is extremely community-focused. Neighbors know each other, mutual aid is a way of life, and people go out of their way to make newcomers feel welcome. The kingdom is peaceful but that doesn't mean it's totally free of magical mishaps, occasional mysteries, or small-scale conflict.
You can find more details about the kingdom itself on the [Locations Page]!
What the heck is the Everbloom?
- The Everbloom is a magical, ancient tree nestled in a protected greenhouse on the castle grounds! It took root as the heart of the kingdom long ago and it's been quietly keeping Rosavelle magical, peaceful, and harmonious ever since. Its roots are nourished by love in all its forms, and in return, it radiates a gentle protective magic that allows the land to flourish.
The royal family has always been its guardian, and the enchanted greenhouse was built to shelter it from harm. One of the Everbloom's most important roles is during the coronation of a new sovereign: its blossoms are woven into what's called a Coronation Crown - a living circlet that only blooms for a worthy ruler truly attuned to the Everbloom's power. Should a Coronation Crown's flowers blossom, the sovereign's reign will be a peaceful and joyous one. But if it wilts... uh, let's not worry about that right now...
In short: ancient magical tree, loves love, makes crowns, very important. Please be nice to it.
How did I get here?
- You were invited! From your character's perspective, they were just living their life when a mysterious envelope arrived seemingly out of nowhere. Inside? A letter from Princess Calanthe explaining their situation, their need for help, and a request for them to come and visit Rosavelle. There's no time limit on the invitation so characters are free to ponder over it for as long as they need. Ultimately, the moment they agree, they'll find themselves whisked away, arriving in the Everbloom's greenhouse - the heart of Rosavelle's magic.
Characters do need to say yes to Callie's invitation, but how that "yes" looks is totally up to you. Whether they're enthusiastically on board, deeply skeptical, or just curious enough to humor it, as long as they basically intend to engage once they arrive in Rosavelle, they're good to go. If you'd like to app a character but are wrestling with how to get their "yes," feel free to ask fellow applicants or the mods for ideas!
What happens when my character arrives in Rosavelle? What will their first few hours in the kingdom look like?
- New arrivals are brought to Rosavelle through the Everbloom's Greenhouse, usually with their invitation still in hand. A small team of castle attendants keeps watch there specifically for this purpose and will be quick to greet you, make sure you're steady on your feet, and answer any immediate questions. From there, you'll be escorted on a brief orientation through the castle, including short introductions to Princess Calanthe and Nadeshiko, before being shown to the barracks aligned with your Bloom Bond flower.
OOCly, you're free to play out your arrival as part of your introduction if you'd like, or simply assume it's already happened and jump straight into your character being mostly settled in Rosavelle.
What kind of magic exists in Rosavelle?
- Rosavelle runs on Bloomcraft - the kingdom's local magic tied to the Everbloom itself. Everyone brought here can access it, even if they couldn't use magic back home. You'll see people using Bloomcraft in everyday life: cooking, tending gardens, decorating spaces, or expressing themselves. That said, flashy magic that disrupts public spaces or endangers others will get you funny looks (and probably a chat with local officials).
For more info on Bloomcraft, roll over to the relevant page!
Can I leave if I want to?
- Of course! Nobody's trapped here. Callie will willingly send characters home if they ask... though of course you went through the trouble of writing an app so hopefully that won't happen right away. They'll retain all their memories of the trip and Callie will even send them home with their invite in hand so they can come back if they ever change their mind.
If your character is the type that would generally elect to leave immediately, but you do believe they could mesh with the setting given time, they are still free to ask to go home and Callie will certainly do their best to make it happen...! Except, maybe there's some kind of magical interference and Callie can't send them back right now. Or maybe a character totally means to ask to go home but they conveniently forget whenever they happen to see Callie.
Basically, we want to emphasize that characters are not being held in Rosavelle against their will so whatever silliness needs to be contrived to make sure someone sticks around is A-OK by us.
Can my character leave Rosavelle to explore the mainland or other islands?
- In-character, yes - no one's going to chain your character to the docks if they feel like wandering off. Rosavelle is part of a wider world, and it makes perfect sense that characters might be curious about what lies beyond the canals and shores.
Out of character, though, that's outside the scope of the game. The mods aren't able (or inclined!) to support mainland adventures or seafaring plotlines, so we politely ask that your characters conveniently refrain from developing any serious nautical ambitions.
What if my character agreed but they're a grouch/a hater/etc.?
- They're still welcome, but characters who completely refuse to engage with the world, relationships, or the setting will struggle. This is a social, relationship-focused game. You don't have to play a sunshine-and-rainbows character, but they should be able to function socially (even if it's begrudgingly) or otherwise be drawn out of their shell.
What happens to my character's world while they're here?
- Not a thing! Don't worry about it. Callie will give a long, wretchedly boring and technical explanation if prompted but the gist of it is that as far as the cast is concerned, their home world is paused, unaffected, or otherwise "on hold" while they're here. Since characters' homes are frozen, this also means that you cannot canon update while playing in the game - though you are free to update your canon point if you happen to drop and then later re-app.
Whether this affects their aging while they're here in Rosavelle... is entirely up to you! :3
Does my character keep their abilities/items from home?
- Yes, within reason! Your character keeps their existing skills and abilities, with a few exceptions for balance (game/setting breaking powers will be nerfed as needed). Even if they couldn't use magic back home, the Everbloom connects everyone to Bloomcraft, so they'll be able to learn local magic too.
As for items, characters will arrive with the clothes they had on their back and carrying whatever they happened to have on-hand when they got their invite. As with powers, magical items are case-by-case - expect some gentle nerfing if they break the setting.
Where do characters live when they arrive?
- Callie has been polite enough to set everyone up for free in the barracks on castle grounds! They'll be attended to by housekeepers and castle staff like any other guest of the royal family, even down to being served meals and snacks as often as they please. How fancy...!
Players can upgrade or customize their living spaces through Bonus Thread rewards and if they'd like, they can even have their characters move out of the castle grounds and into Rosavelle itself where housing ranges from cozy apartments to small canal-side houses and even small manors if you've very lucky. Check out the Housing section of the rewards for more info!
How does money work here?
- Money here functions more or less recognisably as it does in most characters' worlds, though Rosavelle thankfully has a much smaller disparity of class and nobody lives in poverty.
Rosavelle uses a simple two-tier currency: Crowns and Pieces, with 100 Pieces to a Crown. Daily necessities cost around 20 Crowns, and most citizens earn about 20,000 Crowns a year. Crowns handle everyday purchases, while Pieces cover small expenses. Anything beyond comfort - like fine dining (50 - 100 Crowns), magical services, or custom imports - will be priced accordingly. Wealthy citizens, especially those in Bellvine Hill, often earn 50,000+ Crowns annually.
Players are trusted to manage their characters' funds themselves without having to nickel and dime every detail but the mods reserve the right to step in if you start getting a bit silly with it and make your character a millionaire overnight.
Can my character get a job, run a business, or volunteer in town?
- Absolutely! In fact, it's highly encouraged - getting involved in Rosavelle's community is one of the best ways for characters to build connections and leave their mark on the island. Day-to-day living expenses are already covered by Princess Calanthe (technically you're on the royal payroll just by being here), so no one has to worry about basic needs. But if your character wants a little extra pocket money, they're more than welcome to pick up a job, open a shop, or lend their talents as a volunteer around town.
Characters who are less career-minded and more academically inclined are also free to attend Rosavelle's local schools and education facilities, whether to pursue a particular field of study, or simply enjoy the experience of learning in a new place.
Can characters get hurt or die in Rosavelle?
- Rosavelle is a much safer place than many characters' home worlds - thanks to magic, healing is swift, and healthcare is top-tier. That said, it's not completely babyproofed. Bumps, scrapes, magical mishaps, and the occasional dramatic injury can happen if you really want - we see you, hurt/comfort girlies (it's us, we are the hurt/comfort girlies)
However, when it comes to character death: while nothing in-universe outright prevents it, we ask that players not pursue death plots. Royal Decree isn't a setting where death is meant to be on the table, and even in the case of a player wanting to kill off their own character, the answer from the mod team would respectfully be a no.
Since this is a game about romance and long-term relationships, can pregnancy happen in Rosavelle?
- In-character? Sure - there's nothing in the setting preventing it, and biologically speaking, things work about the same here as they do in most worlds.
Out-of-character, we don't allow pregnancy plots. Thankfully, Rosavelle is very progressive on the healthcare front. Magical and non-magical contraceptives are freely and easily available throughout the kingdom, so if it ever comes up, feel free to handwave that your character is taking advantage of those resources.

Also if a character has any kind of debilitating illness, would it be cured? Or maybe there's a magical buffer that keeps said illness from getting worse?
NEAR DEATH / POST DEATH CANONPOINTS & ILLNESS
Since a character needs to be in a state to receive Callie's invite and to express their intent to come to Rosavelle, post-death canonpoints are unfortunately not doable! Near-death may be, but characters should be reasonably capable of socializing and mingling once they arrive, just to get them off on the right foot.
As for illnesses, they can be cured in Rosavelle if you'd like to pursue that! There's healing magic and potions aplenty so there's sure to be something that'll work.

1. Mages' magic feed off of magical energy of a world. They don't steal magic directly from the source but instead feed off of the residual energy the magic gives off. They can sustain themselves with just their magical energy but it does affect the level of magic they can use.
2. Their magic can be influenced by how the world views magic. If the world positively views magic then a mage's magic harmonizes peacefully with the world, but if the world fears magic then it will feel unnatural and the world rejects it, creating tears in the fabric of the world. It sounds like bloomcraft is highly regarded, but how do the people of Rosavelle view magic from other worlds? I could nerf this ability completely by taking Arrakis after he died, but I wanted to see if there is a possibility to keep him as a mage.

Would it be possible to get a little more detail as to how all this works and how it affects his general power level? What sort of magic is he usually able to perform back in his home world? That way I can figure out how it might mix in with the game's own magic system and how and where it might need nerfing.

Arrakis’s piece is the desire and hope that the afterlife will be a better place for their loved ones who have passed on. His element is air so he can shape his magic into wind. He can’t directly manipulate natural wind, only his own, although he can indirectly guide the natural wind by creating air currents with his. Each mage also has a mystic gift that ties directly to their piece of the original wish. Air mages can mix wind with music to create a healing song that soothes the soul with the promise of better days.
For general power level, I use Avatar last Airbender as a comparison. On a magic rich world his magic level is similar to the avatar state. On a world with little or no magic he’s like a normal airbender. Mages are also part pure magic so the have some general enhancements as well like minor healing and greater resistances but just like with his wind magic how much he can use those depend on how much extra magical energy he has to play with.
It is also possible that a magic rich world might not accept his magic so he could be easily nerfed to a normal airbender depending on the rules of the world.
Sorry the explanation ran long. Let me know if you need more details!

As for your second question, we can just say that won't be relevant in Rosavelle since magic is such an accepted and ordinary part of life. No holes in reality, promise!

Speaking of Bloomcraft, can Bibliomancy use song?

Is it safe to assume characters know no time will pass in their worlds when they accept the invitation?

It will be mentioned in the invitation they receive!

As for Callie... seems like they're pretty good at the stuff! They don't seem especially more or less magically empowered than any other person around the castle (or Rosavelle at large) but they're exceptionally skilled at all branches of Bloomcraft as the result of years of hard work and study - though this will, of course, only be relevant when it's funny.

'Course, it's fine if it doesn't, or if the Everbloom is so powerful the status window just Shoujo Flower Blasts him into space like Team Rocket.

He does get a strong sense of it being kind and gentle and maybe a faint tickle of some kind of intent or will in there but overall, the power is too intense and too different from what he's used to seeing that it gives him a bit of a headache. Maybe once he's gotten more acquainted with Rosavelle's magic...?

—Are they addressed to the character using the eventual fake title they'll be using while in Rosavelle?
—What happens to the invite once the character accepts? Do they get to keep it, or does the invite, idk, kapoof and transform into the portal that takes them to Rosavelle?
Asking for reasons of potentially discombobulating my character, rofl.

2) My assumption has been that it kapoofs!

Are they told they'll return home with no memory like nothing ever happened, all their skills gained and relationships grown gone kaput? Or something else?
